There were so many cool things at the thrift store this week, but I only ended up buying one thing! Find out what it was and who won my texture pack give away.
This weeks project was sooooooo simple to make! I was able to complete the entire bag in less than two hours (including drying time) which is some kind of record for me! LOL!
I picked up a few Tyvek envelopes from my local post office and cut them apart. My bag is made with three envelope, but you could actually make it with just two. I just chose to not use the seamed side of the Tyvek envelopes. For the handle, I cut the ends off of the belt I got from the thrift store last week and stitched them to the inside of the bag.
I didn’t know it at the time, but I should have sealed my paint before sewing the bag. When I flipped it inside out after sewing, some of the paint started to chip. If you make one of these, be sure to let it dry completely and then seal it before sewing.
I have already used this bag to carry some art supplies to a friends house and it works great! The Tyvek is extremely strong, so I don’t have to worry about the bag tearing or falling apart if I put heavy items into it.
I love that I now have a personalized bag that I can use over and over again. I’m sure it will be a conversation starter!
I hope you enjoyed this project and I would love to see YOUR hand painted Tyvek bags. Leave me a comment with a link to see your finished projects. If you liked this post, please share it and tell your friends 🙂
Until next time,
This weeks video is a bit different and a bit longer than usual. I explain why in the video, so I won’t go into it here LOL. I also explain why there is no Mixed MEdieology Monday project this week.
This has been an extremely difficult week for me. I was sick all week with a sinus/inner ear thing which I still have not recovered from, my birthday came and went and I was too sick to really enjoy it AND I had ONE OF the worst video editing experiences to date. I think the editing nightmare was compounded by my being sick, but it bothered me so much, I even contemplated not doing videos anymore. Like, at all. Yeah, it was THAT bad.
But enough of that! I am ready to just move on from this week and begin anew with next weeks project!
I know, I know, It’s not Thursday. Trust me…. I know 😦
This has been one hell of a week, but I have persevered and I am ready to move on! But that doesn’t mean that I’m not going to vent a little bit here.
First of all, I completely lost an entire day because I was sick. Not ‘sick, sick’ but still sick. I woke up Wednesday morning to the room spinning! I had never experienced that kind of dizziness before, but the shit in my house was LITERALLY spinning around the room. I somehow managed to drive my son (20 minutes) to school and then (20 minutes) home again before my husband came home from work to take me to the doctor. It ended up being this sinus/ear tube issue causing the dizziness and I was down for the count for two days.
Once I felt well enough to finish editing the video for this weeks episode, it was one computer issue after another. I won’t go into the hellish details, but it involved multiple failures, a trip to Walmart, two melt downs, a re-record and an hour and a half on the phone with Apple to resolve my issue. All is well now, but from now on, the FIRST thing I am going to do (in the future) when something doesn’t work properly is a system update and restart of my Mac. Infuriating friggin’ machinery.
Alrighty! Enough of that. On to this weeks episode 😀
I found an awesome bag of goodies this week and there was even a surprise in the bag ‘o goodies that took me back to a very happy childhood memory.
I also announce the winner of my giveaway AAAAAAAND tell you about my NEXT giveaway and how YOU can WIN!

See you on Mixed MEdieology Monday.
On this weeks Mixed MEdieology Monday, I am using the items I purchased on Thrift Shop Thursday 3/7/13. If you missed it, you can find that video here.
This fairy girl is painted on a little shelf from one of those cheapy, pressed wood cabinets. I made her wings by coating a butterfly stamp with glue, then stamping it onto acetate.
Here is a list of supplies I used;
acrylic paints – quin magenta, orange, white, turquoise and light blue perm
gelatos – black
meocolor II – black
papers from note pads
distress ink – faded jeans
acrylic ink – flesh tint

WOO HOOOOO!!! I DID IT! I FINALLY opened my Etsy shop!!!! You can come take a peek at my goodies if you like 😉
I don’t know if you have ever put things on Etsy or not, but let me tell you, it is TIME CONSUMING! As I got started, I quickly realized that was one of the biiiig things keeping my from setting up shop. It takes FOREVER! LOL
I listed three items today (the same three from last Wednesday’s blog post) and it took me over an hour! Partly because I had NO idea what I was doing, but partly because there is alot of thought involved and I wanted to get the wording for the listing correct. I’m just glad I finally took that first step and got SOMETHING in my shop.
OK, so on to this weeks friends and family discount listings 😀
